We love our new logo

PrintWe love our new logo!

It was designed by Jennifer Brown of Nye Design Studios in Lancaster, PA.  She listened to me explain Therapeutic Thymes, checked out our site, did some research, and listened to what I wanted and didn’t want. Her cost was reasonable and she did everything in a timely manner. A quick turnaround. Check out her work at http://www.nyedesignstudio.com/. If you need a graphic designer, I definitely recommend her.

Minty Congestion Rub

As a child I loved Vick’s Vapor Rub. I know – weird, right! I found I can make a similar rub using natural products and of course essential oils!

Prep time: minimal

Coconut OilIngredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil (I prefer Nature’s Promise, seen at right)
  • 7 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
  • 7 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil

The Coconut Oil should be more liquid than solid. Once manageable, add in the essential oils and mix. You can either make the mixture in a bowl and pour into a container or mix the oils directly into the Coconut Oil.

To Use:

Simply rub the salve on your chest to relieve your congestion. I normally do this twice a day – before bed and in the morning.

Note:

This should not be used on young children. This recipe should be used for adolescents and adults.

Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner

No one likes to clean, especially the bathroom, but here is one recipe to help make that task a bit more bearable!

Prep time: minimal

Ingredients:

  • baking soda
  • white vinegar
  • disinfecting essential oil blend

Blend combinations are really of your choosing. You could mix lavender, lemongrass, rosemary and tea tree oils. Another combination might be eucalyptus, grapefruit, lime, lemon and lemongrass. I personally am choosing eucalyptus, lemon, and tea tree oils today.

Directions:

  • Place 1 cup of baking soda in a glass bowl.
  • Add 50 drops of the essential oil blend into the baking soda.
  • Blend the oils into the baking soda using a wooden spoon or a pestle.

scrubbing-hand-376307To Use:

  • Put 2 TBSP of the mix into your toilet bowl.
  • Pour 2 TBSP of white vinegar on top of it. It will fizz and foam as they combine.
  • Scrub the toliet with your cleaning brush, as you normally would.

Leftover mix:

  • Store leftover mix in a glass jar to save for next time.

Note:

I came across this recipe awhile ago on Growing Up Herbal by Megan Visser and adapted it a bit. It is simple, adaptable and works!

My name is Jeanne Ruczhak-Eckman and I am the founder and editor. I am also a Young Living Ind. Distributor (#3866754). I also work in a nursery seasonally (that is I have January and part of February off), and I do genealogy research and writing as well. My husband and I have twin daughters entering their senior year of high school and an older daughter who recently married a nice guy in the Army and moved to Italy. Our first granddaughter is due in June. I am so excited to be a Baba!
